Jeep safari in Gran Canaria

Jeep tour in Gran Canaria

The jeep tour in Gran Canaria lasts approximately 5 hours and is done in the morning, except for summer and Easter, when we also have some departures in the afternoon.

The tour includes a pick-up service in the island’s main tourist areas. Pick-ups in Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés are around 8:30, in Puerto Rico and Amadores around 8:20 and Puerto de Mogán around 8:15.

The vehicles used are convertible jeeps with a capacity for 6 passengers plus the driver. As long as weather conditions allow it, the tour will be done with the open-top jeep, so we advise you to wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun and warm clothing to avoid the cold wind.

The main objective of the jeep safari is to visit some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in southern and central Gran Canaria. Even though part of the route is done on asphalt roads, the most spectacular sites are accessed by dirt and stone roads.

The most exciting section of the route will take us down a path located in the middle of the Arguineguin Ravine, from which we’ll enjoy some unique views of this ravine, one of the most impressive on the island.

The views of the arid slopes of the Barranco (ravine) de Arguineguin contrast with the pine forest areas of the Barranco de Chira, which surround the charming town of Cercados de Araña, the highest point of the route, located at 900 meters above sea level.

The third largest ravine that we’ll see during the journey is the Barranco de Fataga, also known as the ravine of 1000 palm trees due to its abundant palm groves.

But in addition to the diversity of landscapes we’ll see during the tour, another great attraction lies in the possibility of taking a camel ride before finishing the route.

In short, the Gran Canaria jeep safari is a fun proposal to discover the most beautiful landscapes of the central and southern Gran Canaria, as it combines nature, culture and adventure, as well as some spectacular sites.

Recommendations:

  • Bring sunscreen, comfortable clothing, a hat, warm clothing, and sunglasses.
  • Don’t do this excursion if you’re pregnant, have acute back problems or need a wheelchair to get around.
  • Book the tour as far in advance as possible as seats usually sell out.

If you want to try other jeep tours on the islands we recommend the Fuerteventura jeep safari, the Tenerife 4×4 tours and the Lanzarote jeep tours.
